Returning to Oneness

How to re-connect, breathe and stay present when you feel emotional overwhelm!

This one was a biggy for me and this does take practice, so please remember to be kind and patient with yourself as self-compassion is all part of this process.

Returning to oneness can be difficult when there is so much chaos around us. It creates unnecessary mind clutter, overwhelm and stress which can get the better of us. It is so easy to get caught up with our lives and ignore what is really important to us.

Then before we know it, we act in frantic ways. We react emotionally rather than taking the time to think more clearly, and when this happens, we are acting out in ways which are not aligned with our true selves. Once we have done the action, most of us will experience guilt, shame, or distress.

This has happened to many of my clients and the first thing I do is applaud them for recognising this behaviour. They have made themselves aware and awareness is key. If you are not raising awareness to this, then the emotional overwhelm will continue.

So that is step 1 – Awareness. Next is understanding what you can do about this. Here is a list of what I provide to others. Practical and easy steps you can start with today!!

– Raise your energetic vibration. Do this by surrounding yourself with supportive and like-minded people. Play or dance to your favourite song or watch a feel-good movie.
– Be aware of your environment. Whether this is work or your personal environment. Is this environment making you feel stressed, drained or anxious?
– Breathing techniques. Try different breathing techniques that will work for you. Doing any type of breathing techniques will calm your nervous system and allow you think more clearly.
– Meditation. If you are new to meditation, try a guided meditation.
– Get out in nature. Being active is important for retuning to oneness. Go for a beach or nature walk.
– Talking. Speak to someone you trust about your awareness. Whether it is a friend, family member or a mentor. In this type of conversations, it is very important to know and understand your values so you can align them with your true self.
– Journaling. This one is key for awareness and can raise awareness to your triggers. Note if there are any repeats and take notice of the people, environment, any pre-conditioning, and the activity you are doing at the time.

While you are journaling you can ask yourself – what triggers are occurring, why do I believe I am reacting to this situation, what is actually important to me, does this align with my values, and is this in my environment (people, self or activity)?

Try any that resonate with you today to truly see a difference!
